The start of teething?

Kellen has started to drool lately and has been chewing on his hands and wrists alot! Sometimes he seems to get upset and when you put your finger in his mouth, he just starts chewing on it with this adorable desperation.

Here is a video of Kellen chewing on Shawn's knuckle...I think it's time we get him some toys to chew on!

Random Kellen Shots

Here is Kellen in the bath...he's staring up at Shawn to make sure that Shawn is looking at all the splashing he's about to do!

Kellen is just hanging out this morning in his new outfit from Jen Pearce's mom...thanks Lynne! I think Kellen looks so old and big in this picture! Kellen had a bit of diaper disaster this morning - making a big mess inside the diaper, outside the diaper, all over himself, all over us....fun times! Needless to say, Kellen got a bath at 7am this morning!

Kellen loves to watch us talking, eating, or really just about doing anything. He also just lights up whenever you turn your attention back to him. Here he is watching Shawn and smiling when daddy started talking to him again.

Yesterday was a really tiring day for Kellen...we went for a long walk (that ended up in the rain!) and then we practiced our tummy time, sitting up, and rolling over....wow, that's alot! It was also another miserable day in Toronto, so Shawn brought up the air conditioner...here are mommy and Kellen enjoying a well deserved nap in the cool air conditioning! It is always so nice to sneak in a nap with Kellen since we have him sleeping in his crib for his naps now!

Look at me!

Kellen has been doing really well at holding up his head and wanting to move around. Here are some pictures of Kellen sitting up with little assistance. He loves it when you pull him up into a seated position...he can hold this stance for about 30 seconds and then his head gets all wobbly again! He also has learned to roll over (sort of)...if he is lying on his back, he can roll so that he is on his side and then he kicks his leg and falls onto his stomach (but stuck over one of his arms and gets upset).

Some things we have learned about Kellen

The above pictures are pics showing off Kellen's ever-growing physique! He turns 3 months this weekend and has grown so much over the last 4 weeks....he is just about 14 pounds (which is not that much of a weight gain since month 2...but it sure looks like alot!) and is 25 1/2 inches long!

Things we have learned:
1) Kellen loves art. Kellen loves to just stare at any picture we have in the house...he just looks at them whenever he is in the room! Shawn bought this picture for Kellen's room so he has some art to look at while getting changed!
2) Kellen loves the water. Every night during bathtime, Kellen is so happy! He spends lots of time in the bath kicking up a storm and swinging his arms around. We can't wait to get him into swimming lessons!
3) Kellen loves to eat. While most babies are probably starting to eat less frequently now, Kellen still likes to eat every couple of hours...and when it is time to eat, he lets out this cry like he hasn't eaten in years...then, he eats like he hasn't eaten in years!
4) Kellen hates to sleep (at night). We are starting to think that Kellen has formed a "starving artist" personality. This would account for his sudden mood changes and why every couple of nights, Kellen refuses to sleep - he needs to "struggle" to be the artist he wants to be! I am now convinced he will be the only baby that will never sleep through the night!
5) Kellen is without a doubt, the cutest, most beautiful baby in the world! Every time he smiles, talks to you, kicks up a storm, or just snuggles with you, you can't help but fall in love with him!

Rolling off daddy is fun!

Kellen was having lots of fun yesterday doing this game where he would lie on Shawn's stomach and then move himself over to the edge where he would roll off of Shawn...he did this (rolling with daddy there to catch him!) several times in a row and just didn't seem to get bored of this new game! It was so funny to watch how excited he got over this!

Hot weather = cranky Kellen

Yesterday was super, super hot, humid and just plain miserable in Toronto...it was over 30 degrees and very muggy...by 9pm, it was still 27 degrees outside! Since we don't have air conditioning, our apartment became very stuffy and hot. So, by dinner time, Kellen had become very cranky and upset. He would not eat (which is totally not like him) and could not get comfortable...so, after stripping him down, he calmed down abit but would still not eat. So, after repeating his bath later on in the evening (where he was very happy and splashed around like crazy) he finally felt okay enough to eat and fall asleep (finally!).

He must of worn himself out yesterday because as I'm writing this post, he is still sleeping (still wakes up to feed every couple of hours)...he has been sleeping for the past 13 hours! He just doesn't want to stay awake today!

Here is daddy reading Kellen a Dr. Seuss book...Kellen likes to look at all the bright colours while daddy reads to him!

A baby who sleeps is a happy baby

We gave Kellen an oral immunization a couple of days ago and it seemed to ruin his sleep. He has been unable to fall asleep at night for the past couple of nights and yesterday, it was impossible to get him to nap....needless to say, a tired baby is a very, very cranky baby. So, last night, Shawn and I decided to take Kellen for a drive after his bath and feed to help him finally fall asleep. It worked! Kellen fell fast asleep and slept for 6 hours in a row!!! (for Kellen, that is great!). He then slept for 2 hour intervals until he got 12 hours of sleep! So, this morning, Kellen was in a super good mood and was talking and giggling with me non-stop!

Here are some pictures of Kellen hanging out and talking to me this morning...as you see, he was very excited about his stories!

However, while I'm writing this post, Kellen is in his crib crying up a storm....hmmm, the happy baby mood didn't last long! Here's hoping when he gets up from his nap it will be back to happy Kellen!

Update: Kellen slept for 1 hour, fed, then slept for another 1 1/2 hours...happy baby again!! Yeah!

Kellen playing

This past weekend, we bought Kellen some Baby Einstein DVD's..they're pretty cool - it is basically puppets, children and bright objects moving around to music. We put the DVD's on while Kellen is on his gym play mat so he can watch the video and play with his hanging toys. He is also getting much better at trying to touch his hanging toys - he hits them almost all of the time (when he's trying...most of the time, he still just likes to stare at them).

Here is Kellen hanging out with daddy. As you can see, Kellen just loves hanging out with daddy and listening to daddy tell him stories. Kellen is getting really good at telling us stories too!

I'm ready for the outdoors

Here is Kellen in his spring clothing and sporting his first pair of shoes! They are his running shoes that he thought would be perfect to wear outside in this beautiful weather....unfortunately, the shoes were more impressive for me as they sort of weighed his feet down and he kept getting his feet all tangled up together while trying to kick.

Shawn and I finally bought Kellen a hat to wear outside for our walks because he hates when the sun gets in his eyes and we don't want him to burn his little head...as you can see, the hat is a bit big on him!

Here are more pictures of Kellen hanging out in his spring clothing...and sporting his cheeks and chin (I'm convinced they both get a little fatter every day!)

A week in the life of Kellen

After spending time with his cousin Parker over the weekend, Kellen decided he wanted to try out some new things just like the big kids! This week, Kellen started making new sounds - he makes "g" and "m" noises all the time now...super cute! Kellen also has formed a new giggle..he used to have a grunting chuckle, but now he is forming a laugh..again, super cute! As mentioned in his other posting, he is able to really lift his head and chest up with no problem...finally, after seeing his cousin Parker's way cool dance moves, Kellen is trying to find his groove thing (as evident in the above picture).

This week Kellen had to have another immunization..this one was taken orally, but the results were the same...feeling yucky! Here is Kellen just hanging out and feeling under the weather. We hope he is back to his fun self soon!

Kellen loves his bathtime...we bought Kellen lots of bath toys (okay..they are mainly for us to play with, but we're sure he'll enjoy them soon!) and Kellen plays, splashes around and practices his kicking for about 30 minutes in the water! We can't wait for swimming lessons this summer! This is a picture of Kellen getting ready for bed with Daddy...he's in his new sleeper that my friend, Lori gave Kellen...thanks Lori!

This morning Kellen woke up in a super good mood...he was all smiles and was giggling non-stop! His smile just melts your heart because it is so sincere and beautiful!

Here is Kellen today sporting his first spring outfit...thank you Grandma, you have great taste in clothing!

Lift off!

Kellen finally started showing that he can lift his head during tummy time! Yesterday while I was holding him, he lifted his head and entire chest off of me and held it for a couple of seconds! What a strong little boy! Then, he started doing the same thing during tummy time!

Kellen meets Grandpa Sinclair

Kellen got a chance to hang out with Grandpa Sinclair the other day. They sure did like spending time together...Kellen as smiling and laughing the whole time! He can't wait to spend more time with his Grandpa S!

Kellen meets his Great Nana and Grandpa

This past weekend, Kellen took his 2nd trip to Brockville to see his Abuelita and Grandpa. Here he is enjoying the nice weather outside on the deck with is Abuelita...he sure does love being in her arms and just hanging out!

Kellen got the chance to meet his Great Nana and Grandpa this weekend...he sure did love getting to know them! Here he is being spoiled by his Great Nana and loving every minute of it! Kellen loved sleeping in her arms and hopes to get a chance to do it again soon!

Here is Kellen hanging out with his grandparents and great grandparents...what a lucky little boy to have so many people around him that love him so much!
