Happy Father's Day!!

On Father's Day, Ajax held a family day at Rotary Park, which is down at the beaches. We went with our friends, Raymond, Sharlene and Caden. They had an amazing pancake breakfast (that came with delicious sausages and juice!) as well as lots of activities for the little ones (like: the fire trucks, giant jumping castles, the beach, miniature golf, face painting, shopping, snacks, and lots more!).
Here are two pictures of Kellen and Caden hanging out by the beach - they were collecting rocks to throw into the water....it seems that they are both obsessed with rock throwing - it must be a little boy thing to do!

Kellen LOVES fire trucks! Everytime we see one, he yells "Fire Truck, EE-OO-EE-OO!!" (if you didn't know...the EE-OO is the sound that a fire truck makes!). So, when he saw the fire trucks, he quickly became the happiest little boy there! The fireman let him sit in the fire truck and gave him a colouring book!! Here he is giving a huge smile with Shawn in front of the truck!!

Here are Kellen and Caden posing on the fire truck.....every toddler's dream come true!! (by the look on their faces, I think Kellen was a bit more excited about being so close to a fire truck!)
Keeping a close eye on the giant jumping castles being filled with air...Kellen was in complete awe of this process...

OMG!!! This is soooo cool!!! It was actually pretty funny to watch Kellen in the jumping castles...he was so small in comparison to the other kids (yet no fear...he wanted to go in and play with the big kids!)...he had trouble standing up because of all the bouncing by the other children, but he had lots of fun just trying to get up and jump around!

"Easy does it....careful....no one move, I'm actually standing!!!"

I love you, Grandpa!!

After Kellen and I came home from the hospital, Grandpa came to visit and help out for a couple of days (Thank you, Grandpa!!!). Kellen had lots of fun with Grandpa! We went for a walk; we went shopping; Kellen showed Grandpa how to water the garden and the grass; Kellen also showed Grandpa his water toys (and made Grandpa play pirates for a very long time!).

Kellen also gave Grandpa a special present that he made (since it was Father's Day that weekend!). Kellen made Grandpa a special mug that says "I love my Grandpa"...and the mug has a special "picture" that Kellen drew just for Grandpa!! I think Grandpa really liked it!!

"Now your pirate has to eat the shark, Grandpa!"

"Ahhh, the shark is going to get me!!"

Kellen...just, Kellen...

Kellen likes to run to the fridge and get something out for a snack....we will be playing, and he will randomly say "I get juice!", or "I get strawberries"...and he will then run to the fridge to get whatever he wants (well, with Mommy or Daddy right behind him to make sure it's okay!). Here he is reaching for some strawberries that were on the top shelf (I know, it is not very safe having him step into the fridge...we don't make this a habit!).

After some strawberries, he decided he really wanted to share a banana with Shawn....

Kellen finds dinnertime very funny.....

Having fun with Mommy while she takes pictures....

"Your Massage, Mommy!"

Kellen must hear me asking Shawn all the time for a massage....because lately, Kellen loves to say "Momma get a massage" and then we sit on the steps and he gives me a massage!! How cute is that!?!? His massages last about 10 seconds and it is basically him just moving his arms over my shoulders...but it is still pretty darn cute!!! Then he will say "My turn, Momma!" and I have to give him a massage....he has learned this from me!!

"Now my turn, Momma!"

He looks a bit mad in this picture, but he was actually singing (we never realized how angry he looked while singing "Old MacDonald Had A Farm!")

Relaxing in the Backyard

Kellen continues to love sitting in our backyard and playing with the dirt that makes up our neighbours yard (we are still waiting for the builders to put the grass down on their yard!).
Kellen and Shawn were in deep conversation so I snuck up behind them to take some pictures of my adorable little guy!

Here is Kellen showing me some of the dirt that he picked up....it was pretty interesting dirt!

...and now there are some stones in the dirt....

....wait, there is some more dirt to look at....we did this for about 30 minutes!

We Were Sick!

Well, it has been a while since I last updated Kellen's blog...but, school is almost finished so I will make a better effort from now on!!

Last week was pretty scary here...both Kellen and I were not feeling very well. We both had headaches (mine was really, really bad), the light was hurting our eyes, our necks were sore, we had fevers, and we both ended up with a body rash. Shawn took us to the hospital and we were put into isolation....turns out we had viral menningitis - how scary!!?!? Even worse, they thought it might be bacterial (since my first spinal fluid test showed signs of bacteria), but thankfully, it was only viral. We stayed in the hospital for 5 days - which was horrible because I wasn't allowed to see Kellen this whole time (thankfully, Shawn was with him in pediatrics) - and we have lots of blood work done, and had IV's in our arms the whole time. However, we are both feeling great now and are finally getting back to normal.

Being sick sucks!!!

The Ice Cream Truck!!!

Kellen was introduced to the ice cream truck 2 weeks ago!!! We always hear the truck drive by and Kellen is always super curious about this singing truck....so, one day it parked outside our house....naturally, we had to take advantage of this!!! Here is Kellen enjoying his very first treat from the ice cream truck...a vanilla soft-serve cone...dipped in chocolate!!! He tried really hard to eat it fast enough, but Shawn had to rescue him a couple of times by licking away all the dripping ice cream! Needless to say, Kellen very much enjoyed his first experience with the ice cream truck!!!

Escalators are Fun!!

Yesterday, we went to the mall to buy Kellen's big boy bed sheets, pillows and comforter (more on this topic next week....after we actually buy a mattress and put the bed together.....wish us luck!!). Well, Kellen discovered the escalators - and he LOVED them!!! It looked like a scene from Rain Man (you know, when they're going down the escalator)...except that Kellen is much smaller than Rain Man, and was smiling much more! He would go up, then down, then up, then down.... After about 40 minutes, we moved onto the elevators....What fun!!!

Kellen also likes to say "Okay" - He will say, "I wash Mommy's hair?...Okay" or "I water the grass?...Okay"...it's really cute how he answers his own questions!!!

He also likes to carry on conversations now. He will actually answer you with real information....for example - if I say "Kellen, do you want to help me water the garden?", Kellen will say something like "Okay, Mommy - grass wants water - it's too hot!" He is a genius!!

Finally - he continues to sing - alot!! And again - it is too cute!!!

My Garden!

We planted a vegetable and fruit garden in the backyard for Kellen....we have strawberries (as you can see from the picture!!), raspberries, blueberries, tomatoes, and red peppers! Kellen loves his garden and waters it every single day!! You can see from the picture that he tends to water a bit too much in one area instead of watering the entire garden....oh well!!

Here he is putting in his special garden ornament that Lita gave him (it's a dove)....he thinks that he dove eats the food every night!

...he didn't like his original spot for the dove, so he took it around to the garden in the front of the house...now he is back to show daddy where he wants it to go.

Watering the front lawn....Kellen takes lawn care very seriously!!

....and another garden ornament that he has to find the perfect spot for....this one is a little bee!

Kellen loves to sit on the ledge of the front door...he just sits there and relaxes while we are working on the lawn or garden...he was deep in thought, but turned around to give us a beautiful smile!!
