6 Month Check Up

Just chillin'....what a typical boy - pulling at his pants in a not so obvious way!

Ahhh, what a beautiful face!!! (check out the "fullness" of his chin(s))

Kellen having lunch.

Kellen playing on his playmat wearing his lion slippers...they make him strong!

So, Kellen had his 6 month check up this week. He is just over 28 inches long and is 20 pounds, 1 ounce!!! He is a big baby! He did really well with his needles - just a few good cries.

Kellen is also getting much better at standing (with help) and is finally beginning to roll over from his tummy to his back...he still gets his back arm stuck but loves to get into a "V" position where he gets up on his toes and has his bum right up in the air...then he sways in this position trying to roll over...very cute!

Kellen has started his last type of cereal this week (whole wheat) and is starting on veggies today! We bought sweet potato...yum!

Video of Kellen in the Water

This is a video of Kellen hanging out in the lake at the cottage. We weren't going to put him in the water since it was a bit cold that day, but he kept staring at the water, so off came the outfit and into the water he went! Kellen was having lots of fun playing with daddy in the water....here he is getting a feel for the water...later on, we put his water diaper on and away he went....swimming and splashing around! (the quality of the video didn't turn out to great when I downloaded it to the blog...but you can still see how cute Kellen is!)

Our cottage vacation at Sharbot Lake

These pictures are of Kellen getting ready for his first swim in the lake. He is all set in his big hat and his cool baby swim diapers! He was so excited to get swimming!!!

My boys....I love them all!

Kellen and daddy getting ready to go swimming with Abuelita and grandpa...do you think Abuelita was excited about seeing Kellen!?!?!

My parents (grandpa and Abuelita to Kellen!) rented an amazing cottage on Crow Lake at Sharbot Lake. The cottage was great...it was 2 stories so that we didn't wake Kellen while he was sleeping! It had the works...great kitchen, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc. The view was unbelievable and the beach to the cottage was great! We had lots of fun swimming, playing in the sand, watching daddy and grandpa fish and going out on the boat! We already miss it!!!

Here is Kellen in his "it is cold outside" sweatsuit. It may have been cold outside that day, but the weather didn't dampen Kellen's mood! What a happy baby!!!

Here is Kellen one morning playing airplane with daddy. He could play this game all day.

Kellen is very concerned about UV rays, so he insisted that he was completely prepared for going out in the sun...here he is with his water t-shirt, sunglasses and hat all ready for a day at the beach!

Kellen hanging out with Abuelita having a bottle...you need lots of nutrients for swimming!

Kellen just loved spending time with his grandpa. He would just sit and enjoy listening to grandpa sing songs to him or tell him stories.

Here is Kellen hanging out with Abuelita on the dock while daddy was fishing. Check out Kellen's cute lion slippers!

So, we now have cousin Parker's exersaucer for Kellen since he loves to be standing...however, Kellen really isn't too sure if he likes this new toy.....here is Kellen looking at me and asking "mommy, why are you leaving me in this weird thing?!?"

This was Kellen's first time in the lake. He was super good about the whole thing! He never cried or looked uncomfortable in the water (and sometimes that water got a little cold!). He loved to just put his toes in the sand and splash around...he also loved it when you held him so that he was swimming on his belly!

When the water in the lake got too cold for swimming, Kellen swam in his baby pool with his Abuelita! Again, he just loved being in the water and splashing around...we definately have a little swimmer on our hands!

Ahh, what a great family!!!

Here is grandpa playing the harmonica for cousin Parker. Parker and Kellen couldn't get enough of this!

"Auntie April....you are soooo funny!! Keep kissing my feet!!!"

Nothing like lots of hugs and kisses from my Abuelita!

The Many Sleeping Poses of Kellen

This is how I found Kellen today after his nap....he is sooo mobile now, it's just crazy! He is now doing this weird move where he arches his back really high so that he is balanced on the top of his head and his feet..then he pushes off and lands 45 degrees in any direction..sometimes he will add an extra roll over at the end of this move! I like how his feet are through the crib sections!

I just love when Kellen is sleeping on his tummy...he looks extra cute with his little feet showing out of his blankie...he does this really cute thing where he keeps changing the side that his head is facing, and he rests his head on his hands...ahh!

Kellen had a rough night last night in the sleeping department and was a bit of a crank today...being a crank is exhausting....while playing on his playmat, Kellen couldn't keep his head up any longer!

Okay, so this has nothing to do with sleeping, but I thought it was a funny picture. Kellen had just pooped and I was also about to put the laundry away...so, I figured I'll take both of them to the room at the same time. I didn't see the harm in this move, but apparently, Kellen was not impressed. Here he is yelling at me and asking why I would do this to him!

Let me tell you a story.....

Kellen continues to practice sitting up...he still isn't too good at holding himself in a sitting position all by himself, but if you put him propped up in his feeding pillow, he looks like an old pro! Here he was telling me about his day of playing on his playmat...doesn't he look so cute just sitting and hanging out!?!

Kellen the cutie

These are a bunch of pictures from the other day of Kellen just playing on his playmat...I had a bunch of things to do around the house (darn chores!) so Kellen was amusing himself for a while and loving every minute of his alone time! He was squealing and talking up a storm to himself while he played so I decided to get some pictures of my adorable little guy!

Daddy Time

Kellen hanging with daddy.

Kellen loves to be standing...whenever he gets a chance, he wants to let you know that he must be standing, or in his airplane pose!

"Ahhh! Daddy got me!!!" Sometimes daddy just has to get lots of kisses in!

Kellen is eating solids...and just having fun!

Here is Kellen not impressed after having finished his rice cereal and wanting more...he used to really not enjoy eating it (we only started last week with 2 tbsp a day)...he would pucker his lips together really tight each time I went to feed him his cereal...needless to say, only about 1/4 of the cereal actually got in his mouth! However, after a couple of days, he now opens his mouth each time he sees the spoon coming towards him. He wants to feed himself, so he is always reaching for the spoon to put it in his mouth! So, feedings are still super messy, but most of the cereal is now in the baby instead of on the baby!

"Yummy cereal!!!!.....Do I have something on my face, mommy?"

These are two pictures of Kellen playing on his playmat yesterday morning.
