Kellen Caught on Film!! Part 1

This is a video of Kellen jumping around in his crib after his nap...this is how he typically lets me know that he has woken up...by jumping all over the place!

And these are two videos of Kellen at the Bowmanville Zoo....one video is of Kellen chasing the baby goats (he loved these little goats!) and the other is of Kellen saying hello to the chickens....too cute!

Mommy and Kellen

For those of you who don't already know....Kellen starts daycare next week. So, today was my last day of just "Kellen and Mommy Time". We still have this weekend, but today is the last day of just the two of us hanging out and doing our routine together. I have been thinking so much over the past couple of days about how quickly time has gone by....how is it possible that 18 months have come and gone? I am going to miss being with Kellen during the day so much. I will miss our routine of playing in the big bed after we wake up, having breakfast together, then going out for walks and to the park; I'll miss making lunch together, getting ready for naptime, and having lots of cuddles after his nap...I'll miss it all. It just breaks my heart that this chapter of our life together has come to an end, but I hope he will adjust quickly to daycare and learn to be happy with the other boys and girls. I hope that the teachers at his daycare learn to love him and that he will be okay without his mommy during the day.

Here are a couple of pictures of Kellen and Mommy 18 months ago....

I decided to take lots of pictures today...here is Kellen after breakfast...notice how long his hair is...we soon left for a haircut!
And, back from our haircut (in which he screamed as if someone were cutting off a limb instead of his hair)...and checking out the grass on the front lawn.

I love this picture! He was having fun "putting gas" into his car and looked up and gave me the goofiest little smile!

Still putting gas in the car.....

For a special dinner before daycare starts, we decided to go to Applebee's. Here is Kellen sitting with daddy and drinking some apple juice while he colours. He was super good at the restaurant!

The funniest thing ever was when he wanted the lemon that came with my salad. Shawn let him lick the lemon and he made the funniest faces ever! However, he kept wanting to lick the lemon after this...and kept making the face!

Giving daddy a Hi-Five!

Before we left, Kellen had fun looking through the bottom of his chair at the people walking by.

Who loves her baby....mommy does!

Mommy and Kellen hanging out before we go for our walk after dinner.

We stopped by the park after dinner and Kellen ran around all over the place...here he is hanging out by a tree while watching the other kids play.

Kellen loves the mailboxes...he has learned how to say the word "Mail" now and whenever we walk by the mailboxes, he will point to them and say mail lots of times! He loves to take our keys and pretend to open the mailboxes and he loves to look in between the mailboxes to play a game of peek-a-boo with you! He is so cute!

I see Kellen!

"Hello neighbour! Just checking the mail!"

Here is Kellen wondering what in the world all the noise is...it turned out to be the ice cream truck!!!

Mommy loves Kellen (he loves me too, but you can't tell by this picture!!!)

Up the stairs to the bath!

As I've mentioned before, Kellen absolutely loves to play "where's Kellen?" and this is one of his absolute favorite hiding spots. Here he is after I found him....what a good little hider! (And, what a beautiful smile!)

Checking out his muscles in the mirror before his bath.

I love this picture....Shawn was tickling Kellen before his bath and Kellen was just laughing so hard...it was so funny to watch!

Another game of "Boo! I see you!"
Kellen loves to put pails, buckets, etc over his head and make weird noises...then, he will pass it to you and expect you to do the same! Don't ask me how he developed this game!

Relaxing in the tub...which is unusual these days because he loves to splash around, throw himself down on his belly and just be really silly during bathtime!

Kellen loves it when Shawn covers his eyes and then says "Boo!"...Kellen loves to grab his hands to reveal his face, then laughs non-stop!

Kellen Hanging out at Home

Kellen continues to love playing in the spare room which has now been dubbed "Kellen's second bedroom". Here he is rolling around on the bed while playing with daddy. He loves to run into the room at full speed and just jump (flop) onto the bed...very cute.

I just got Kellen this little green chair since he loves to back up and sit on the stairs (or anything small enough for him to sit on)....he loves to slowly walk backwards toward his little chair and sit down.

Beautiful baby boy in his crib after his nap.

All smiles after naptime!

Kellen loves to sit on the landing of our staircase, open our linen (storage) closet and take things out to play with. He has really been into sorting things, piling things, and putting things together then taking them apart....here I am interrupting this process.

Kellen loves to sit (or stand) on the counter in the bathroom before his bath and dance in front of the mirror, smile at himself in the mirror, or check out what is in the medicine cabinet. Here he is checking out the Baby Tylenol.....yummy stuff!

....Dancing on the counter while playing with the Baby Tylenol measuring cups.

....and checking himself out in the mirror while mommy continues taking his picture...

Swimming and Playing at the Parks

Kellen continues to love riding on the baby swings....here he is checking to make sure that he swing is properly installed!

He was super intrigued by the little boy beside us on the swings....the little boy kept wanting his dad to push him higher and higher. Kellen thinks that little pushes are better for now.

It has been so nice out that we have been spending lots of time outdoors. Here are a couple of pictures from our time out at various parks, splash pads and the pools. Here is Kellen checking out the people when we arrived at the splash pad (and hydrating himself...it is really hot outside after all!)
Kellen and daddy checking out the splash pad. Kellen is super cautious when we first arrive at the splash pad...he always wants to just watch other people for the first couple of minutes while he figures out where the water disappears to (there are lots of poles, etc that have water come out of them and spray all over...then the water disappears and it all starts back up a few minutes later).

"I'm not sure about this daddy...."

"Where did the water go, mommy?"

"Ahhh...the water got me!"

This playground has these really big areas to run up and down (with the slides, etc coming off of them). It was really weird...Kellen kept getting freaked out whenever he stood on the floor with the holes in it...he would just freeze and take super tiny steps. He kept looking scared and like he would lose his balance (it is as if his eyes couldn't figure out the depth perception of walking over these holes).

Kellen also loves to watch older kids play...he just stares at them with total fascination and gives them a huge smile whenever they run by....it is kind of sad to watch because they always ignore him.

Finally, daddy came and rescued Kellen from his great fear of the holed-floor.

Hanging out at the little parkette near our house...he sees his friend Caden coming to play!

Here we are waiting in line for the public swim to open up at the recreation centre near our house...it was a full house yesterday because of the crazy heat and humidity we're having....Kellen was keeping well hydrated before he hit the pool - he wanted to be able to swim really fast!

The recreation centre has an amazing indoor pool area...there is a sauna, whirlpool, large swimming pool (with the largest slide ever!), and a large wading pool that is nice and warm for the little ones! Here are Kellen and I hanging out in the wading pool....he goes crazy in the water...we had to put a lifejacket on him because he is all over the place - not only is he running around in the water, but he throws himself down into the water (on his front or back) and yells "boom!"...this kid has no fear!
