Mommy and Kellen's Daycare Trip to the Zoo!

Two weeks ago, I volunteered to go with Kellen and the rest of the toddler room of this daycare, to the Bowmanville Zoo!!! All the kids had to wear this huge yellow shirts that had the daycare's name and number on it. Kellen was sooo excited to be in a school bus - and it was lots of fun to see him this excited!! He looked out the window the entire trip!

The moment we got to the zoo, Kellen ran to the monkeys!!! The kids loved to watch the monkeys swinging around their little play structures! Here is Kellen having fun with the monkeys!

Check out the baby goats!!

Kellen just loved chasing around the baby goats (who wouldn't!?!?) The baby goats were definately the highlight for all of the kids!

"Look, Mommy!! Look at the animals!!"
"Hello Mister Animal!" (this is actually what Kellen said while he walked by!)
Kellen loved seeing the elephants because they are sooooo big!!

Taking two seconds to look at Mommy (and then right back to looking at the elephants!)

How cute?!!? Here is Kellen staring at some animals (and showing off his cool yellow daycare shirt!)
After lunch (while we were waiting for the bus) the daycare leaders had all the kids sit in a circle for some fun songs!

Beautiful boy!

Watching the world go by - Kellen can't wait to ride the school bus again!

My First Visit to the Dentist

Last week, I took Kellen to his very first dentist appointment. They have a really cool area for kids in the waiting area - there is this ball pit that Kellen loved jumping around in....it really helped with the nerves! Kellen was pretty shy and scared of the dentist, and there were few tears, but he did great! The dentist said that his teeth look great, that the spaces between his teeth are good and that his teeth are straight! For a reward for being such a great patient, Kellen got to choose a sticker, a pencil and a new toothbrush!!! Yeah for the dentist!

The Adventures of Potty Training

Giving us a back view of his cute underwear....he looks so small wearing them!

We put the potty downstairs to change the scenery a bit...here he is watching some television, while having a snack - all while Mommy hopes that something will happen while he is sitting!!

...and back to the toilet - who needs clothing when you are potty training!!??!

Well, we started potty training four days ago....the first three days were very hit and miss (literally missing the mark by a couple of minutes one too many times!)...but, today we have had greater success...we go to sit on the toilet every 1 1/2 hours and 6 out of 7 times today, Kellen made it to the toilet!!! He gets super excited and is very proud of himself...and of course, we are very proud and happy for him too!!!

He loves to sit and watch his shows on the mini DVD player...and when he goes pee in the toilet, he gets a chocolate treat and gets to put a sticker on his Dora The Explorer Chart!!!

Visiting Brockville and Kingston

On our first day in Brockville, Lita took us down to Hardy Park to feed the ducks! Kellen has never done this before, but he LOVES animals, so he was super excited! We found this amazing seat on the rocks where there were lots of ducks and we just sat there and fed the ducks lots of bread. It was lots of fun to watch Kellen doing this because he would either take tiny pieces of the bread and throw it in, or he would take half a hamburger bun and throw it in! And, whenever he threw a piece in, he would yell "Here Duckie Duckie!" Too cute!

There was also this really cool mini water fall at the park ... Here are Kellen and Lita getting all wet and enjoying some cooling off time!

The next day, we packed up our stuff and headed out to Mallorytown Landing.....Kellen had a blast! Here he is sitting in the water and finding little shells and rocks with Lita! Kellen loves the water and couldn't wait to get right into it!

Mommy and Kellen looking for shells to take home to Daddy!

After we played in the water (and checked out lots of cool things in the little information station...they had live animals to see!) we stopped for a little snack. Lita brought these fruit drinks that Kellen became obsessed with....he drank most of her drinks while we were visiting! He looked pretty cute holding the cans of fruit drink!
Enjoying some quiet time with Lita while we finished up our snacks (and gulped down the fruit drink.....seriously, he was hooked on this drink!)

Kellen's "Smile for the Camera" smile has become more of a squinting - squishy face - I don't know what - kind of smile.....anyways, here are Lita and Kellen having fun in the big tree fort (or as Kellen liked to call it "High Tower!")

On our way to "High Tower" ... what a great thing for kids to play on!

Kellen wasted no time climbing to the top and going down the huge slide!
...and up again!!! I think Kellen went up the stairs and down the slide about 1000 times!!

There was this really cool rock climbing thing that Kellen fell in love with! I helped him the first time and then he insisted on doing it all by himself after that (that is his new phrase..."I'll do it!")

The kid has no fear! Here he is climbing all the way to the top!

...and over the top and down the other side!
There was this really cool swing, which looked like a giant metal frisbee attached to four ropes.....The first time I tried pushing Kellen on this swing, he flipped over....ooops!! Needless to say, he didn't like this swing too much!!!

After we left Brockville, we stopped by Auntie April and Uncle Garrett's house for lunch and a quick visit! Here is Parker showing Kellen how to climb through his fort!

Kellen really liked playing with Parker's Hippo Game!

....And who doesn't love playing with trains!?!!

....and more trains....

Parker hanging out with his Mommy!!!

What a ham! I love the big smiles that Parker gives for the camera! (I think he is pretty used to having his picture taken!)

Science is Cool!

A couple of weeks ago, Lita came up for a visit and we decided to visit the Science Centre!!! If you have never been to the Science Centre, you really should make a point of heading to Toronto to visit - it is sooo much fun and has lots of things for everyone to do!!!
The Science Centre has a specific area just for toddlers and young children - it's called KidsPark!! There were lots of fun things for Kellen to check out there! The thing that Kellen enjoyed the most was this area with lots of ramps for balls to run through. Kellen was completely fascinated with this and would grab a ball, climb up to the top of the ramp, drop his ball through the ramp, watch in amazement and do it all over again...and again...and again...

It looks like Lita was having fun with her own ramp!!!

Checking out a cool water section where you could make mini waves and catch fish with your magnetic fishing rod! Kellen was a bit small for this and had trouble seeing into the water, but he still had lots of fun!

Here is this really cool bubble maker....it was this wire that you roll down into what looks like water and dish soap and when you roll it back up it is holding the soapy solution - so, when you blow into it, you make huge bubbles!!!

Ahh, the famous nail board (where you can push the nails down with your hands or face to create the image on the other side)...these were super safe - the nails all had plastic coverings on them! Kellen thought this entire concept was fascinating!!

All this exploring and learning about science can really work up a person's appetite! We stopped for some yummy lunch before heading out for more fun! Kellen ate an entire piece of pizza all by himself!

Playing some lovely music with Lita....yeah Science!!!!!

I Love to Play!!

We still enjoy going to the park after dinner as a fun way for Kellen to just play and have fun with Mommy and Daddy....he loves climbing up the bars, swinging like a monkey at the top of the slide, and then going as fast as he can down the slide.....what a life!!

"I can do it!" This is Kellen's new phrase of the week....he is going through an independent streak and insists on doing everything all by himself....it's pretty cute to see!

Having fun with Daddy on the teeter-totter (or however you actually spell this!)

And back at home, he couldn't resist jumping into his little pool - fully dressed! What a great way to cool off after lots of fun at the park!!

Giving me his "Brrrrrr...it's cold!" face!

Check out my Bike!

Before we get to the bike, I thought I would add a picture of Kellen and I hanging out on the couch....I was giving Kellen lots of kisses and making him laugh....Boy, do I love this kid!!

For Christmas, Kellen got a tricycle and we finally are able to use it! It has a handle on the back that you can put on and help "guide" him as he learns to move the handle bars - and it helps to move the pedals so that he can learn how to actually pedal the bike! Last week, he was actually able to ride his bike all by himself!!!

Super proud to be riding his bike to the park...just like the big kids!

"Take care, Mommy...I'm outta here!"
