Reading wth Lita

Last weekend, Grandpa and Lita came up for the night! Kellen was so excited to see them! Lita brought up some of Kellen's favourite books from her home (as well as some great new books!). Here are Lita and Kellen enjoying some quiet time together while reading a story.
However, the night that Grandpa and Lita had to leave, Kellen was no longer in a good mood....here he is giving us a sulky pout/"I am so not into you taking my picture right now" look.
....And, just like that, he was over it, and intrigued by a spot he found on the table cloth....he thought it was a cute little spot that was looking for its mommy spot (whom lived up at the top of a tree and must have fallen out because it was trying to fly away to find chocolate for the baby dot.....I swear, that is the story that came out of Kellen! Needless to say, his imagination has taken off!)

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!

A couple of weeks ago (Feb. 3) was Shawn's birthday! Kellen and I bought him a special cake (Kellen picked it out all by himself!)....after dinner, it was time for Shawn's birthday cake...immediately, Kellen was in awe of the candles and sang "Happy Birthday" so well! He couldn't stop staring at the candles and just wanted to help Shawn in blowing them out!
Last week, I was home with Kellen because he was sick with his ear infections and cold. We decided to treat him to "Toy Story 3" and we ate dinner while watching the movie!!! Here is Kellen with his dinner of a bunch of different little bites of light foods - grapes, pickles, crackers, shredded cheese and raspberries!!

Completely focused on the movie....it took him forever to finish his dinner (I guess this is why eating meals in front of the television doesn't work!)....but, he had a great time relaxing, hanging out with Mommy and Daddy, watching one of his favourite movies, and getting to eat yummy food!

Practicing our Printing!

After seeing the very impressive printing by Parker, Kellen decided that he too wanted to show off his great printing skills! Now, you may not quite believe this, but Kellen actually wrote this all by himself:) And, just in case you cannot read what it says, it says "Kellen"! This kid has serious skills!

"Yes or No"....NO!!!

Once again, we find Kellen going through an independent streak. He needs to do everything all by himself....if I help him down from his stool that he has by the toilet, he gets upset, yells "NO!" and says he wants to do it all by himself from here (pointing to the stool); if we help him down from the counter (after we brush his teeth) he gets upset, yells NO!" and says he wants to walk to his room all by himself from here (pointing to a certain spot on the floor in the bathroom).....serenity now!!! Needless to say, we have to remind Kellen that yelling, whining and being rude are not allowed - So, he is apologizing and spending lots of minutes in time out! We are also trying to get him to calm down when he gets frustrated and "use his words"....which is definately getting better!

He is also into saying things to you, like "Do you like Dora?"..."Yes or No?"; "Are you hungry too?"..."Yes or No?" I think he may have gotten this from me....If Kellen doesn't answer me right away, I will ask him again and say "Yes or No, Kellen". I think he now thinks that you are supposed to say this after every question!

Techie

The other night, Kellen has having fun bringing us things from the kitchen...Then, he would ask if we needed help cleaning up....so, he would either wipe the table, put something from the table into a little bag that he was carrying around, or go and grab the broom and start sweeping the floor!

Kellen is obsessed with gadgets (I have myself to blame for this!)....He is always picking up the IPod, cell phones, or notebook (mini laptop).....the crazy thing is just watching him using these things - he totally knows how to work the mouse, click on things to open games, play games, open and play videos....crazy! He is our little techie!!

My New "Pet" Hampster!

Kellen loves animals, especially cute little ones! Since we are not ready to take on a real pet, we decided to surprise Kellen with a pretend pet - it is one of those toys that moves around and makes different noises....it is actually pretty cool because it has a sensor in it that allows it to know when to turn around after hitting a wall, etc. We even bought it a little "house" for it to run around in and where Kellen can put it to bed. Kellen named his new pet "Tessa the Hampster"

Here is Kellen letting Tessa run on the floor....(By the way...we chose a green hampster because green is Kellen's favourite colour!)

And here is Kellen putting Tessa to bed (there are pictures on the floor of the house of a kitchen with food, as well as a bedroom which has a bed!)...Kellen thought Tessa would like to play on the IPod before going to sleep!

Proudly showing off Tessa to Mommy and Daddy!

Good Night, Tessa!

When it Snows...Go Sledding!!

This past weekend we went to Toboganning Hill which is at the bottom of Harwood Road. It is this awesome hill that has lots of different inclines, grooves in the hills, etc to make for lots of cool ways to go sledding! Here is Kellen checking out the hill and wondering if this is a good idea...hmm, that hill looks pretty big! As you can tell from the look on Kellen's face, he was not very sure about this little adventure!
But, here he is starting to warm up to the idea....

Getting ready as we make our way up to the top of the hill.

It is a lonnnnnng way up to the top...Kellen got tired and decided to sit on the sled and catch a ride up to the top.

After going down, Kellen thought it was too tall a hill to climb, so he asked Shawn to carry him....poor Shawn!

Woohoo!!! Here we go!!!!

Preparing to head down the hill....the hill is a pretty good size and is pretty popular (it even has a parking area!)...we like the hill because each side of the hill has different inclines for different speeds.

Okay....here we go, again!

Shawn was exhausted and Kellen was completely intrigued by the other kids (who could go down all by themselves - and really, really fast!).
