Where's Kellen?

After Kellen has a bath and is put into his PJ's (thanks Abuelita for my awesome new PJ's - they are sooo soft!!), we now do some quiet playtime on Kellen's floor of his nursery. For some reason, we find that if he has this playtime then has his story and feed, he goes to bed without much of a fuss. Anyways, here is Kellen after rolling around in all of his stuffed animals...he looks so cute cuddled in with his toys...he just loves them!

So now an update on the Kellen sleep report:


Kellen is awesome!! For the past 2 weeks, he has been going to sleep at bedtime with minimal crying (10 minutes at most!) He usually wakes up 1-2x/night and cries for no more than 5 minutes and then puts himself back to sleep until the morning!!! Sometimes he still has nights in which he has trouble falling asleep (like last night) and it takes him about 1 hour to settle down...however, it is these nights that he doesn't wake up at all until the morning...so either way, he is sleeping beautifully!!! YEAH!!!!

Kellen time

Kellen actually pulled himself up so that he could "eat" the straps of his chair! It was so cute watching him sit there...he looks so big now!

I thought Kellen looked really cute sitting in his highchair today...we have moved the seat so that he is sitting straight up now (we did this to his stroller too) and he loves it! He is so curious now, so this new position helps him look around...it also unfortunately helps him put his hands into his food....fun!

Before bathtime tonight, Kellen was on his chair (yes, this is how he likes to "sit" on his chair now)...and Shawn was just gently rocking him. He was so mellow and enjoying his quiet time for about 15 minutes...it was really cute.

Visit with Nathalie!

My cousin, Nathalie, came to visit us today (it was her first time meeting Kellen!). We had lots of fun hanging out, playing, and going for a walk! Here are some pictures of Nathalie enjoying her time with Kellen...and Kellen enjoying his time with her!

Superman Rules!

Kellen just received a bunch of new outfits from his cousin Parker (well, new to Kellen!)....he looks so cute in this Superman outfit (that we think Uncle Garrett had something to do with picking out for Parker!)...the outfit gave Kellen ultra rolling powers...he was all over the place yesterday!


He now has this obsession with going into the laundry baskets...he loves to roll into it and be placed in it to sit....I remember when he hated this!!




Here are two videos of Kellen on the floor....yes, he is near an extension cord (try to ignore this please!!) but I promise, I didn't let him eat it! I had put him on the floor near our kitchen after his meal so that I could clean the mess he made and before I knew it, he was already at the bathroom! He log rolled all the way down the hall! So, I made these videos of him after he exhausted himself log rolling...here he is just hanging out on the floor...still amusing himself!!!

This is a video of Kellen playing in the grass at my parent's house over the weekend. He really enjoys feeling the grass and just hanging out in it while he pulls it out of the ground!

These are two videos of Kellen having a great time in the car while we were heading back to Toronto from Brockville. Like I said, he can easily entertain himself for a while in the car, which is great for us since it is a long car ride!!!

Trip to Brockville...Grandpa's Birthday!

Kellen got a chance to visit with Auntie April this weekend...he had lots of fun with her!

Helping mommy pack for our weekend trip to Brockville...Kellen was great at picking out our clothing for the trip!


Kellen was super funny here...he saw a box of cookies that my mom had brought outside for us...so, he got on the table, grabbed the box of cookies, and started biting on it...he didn't let up for a while..it was like he was on a mission to devour the cookie box!

When we got home from Brockville, we had to get the bath ready for Kellen...so, here is Kellen hanging out on the floor all naked!

Playing in the grass in the backyard...boy, does it need to be cut! Kellen loves the feel of grass...he also loves pulling it out by the handfuls!

Kellen is usually pretty great at entertaining himself in the car...he is a great baby to travel with! Here he is cracking himself up again! He is practicing his new cool noises which consist of making gurgling noises at the back of his throat and blowing through his lips ("raspberries")

My First Tooth!

Since we don't have a picture of his new tooth, I thought I'd throw in a photo comparison...above is Kellen at 6 months and below is Kellen at 1 month...wow, what a difference 5 months make!


This morning Kellen woke up to show me his very first tooth! He has been teething for almost a week now, so he must be very relieved that the first one has actually cut through! It is barely above the surface of his gums, but it is definately there! It is his bottom left tooth and the right one is close to coming through too!
No pictures as proof of this tooth yet, as it is very hard to see it....everytime you try to look at his tooth, he covers it with his tongue!

Under the Weather

This is Kellen's new trick to do in his Jolly Jumper..he holds both legs up and just sits there while the Jolly Jumper swings around....yippee!!

Kellen practicing sucking his right thumb..it turns out that it is not as yummy as his left thumb...he has since gone back to the left!

Kellen finding mommy very amusing! I was actually trying to cut his fingernails and everytime I grabbed for his hand, he would squeal and try to roll over...I guess this is fun to him!

Kellen has been feeling a bit under the weather these past 2 days. We thought it was that he was teething (and he is...you can now feel his tooth through the gums...it just has to pop out now!)...but it appears that he caught Shawn's cold. He woke up yesterday very stuffy, congested and sneezing. He was super mellow yesterday and had a bit of a rough night last night. However, it is amazing how babies can still have lots of fun while sick...hence, the pictures!


A couple of Kellen updates: He has been eating solids for about a month now...overall, it is going very well. He loves all his cereals (rice, oatmeal and wheat) and loves all orange veggies (sweet potato, carrots and squash). He also loves bananas and peaches. However, he has hated his green veggies (avocado and green beans)...he actually gags, cries and refuses to swallow them....it's actually pretty funny to watch. That is all we have tried so far...we'll keep you posted!
Also, Kellen is doing very well at moving around...he is now rolling from his tummy to his back, and from his back to his tummy...he is also able to use his arms and legs to push himself around the floor...so basically, he is moving everywhere! He also has super strong legs for standing...he barely needs you to help him stand!
Finally, he is FINALLY starting to sleep through the night!!!! About every 4-5 days, he wakes and needs me to go in to help sooth him back to sleep, but other than that, he sleeps 10-12 hours/night all by himself!!! However, getting him to sleep remains a battle...he refuses to go down without a fight...and a fight it is. It usually takes Kellen 1-2 hours to settle down...yikes for Mommy and Daddy! We will keep you posted on whether this ever changes by his 18th birthday!

This is a video of Kellen just hanging out on his playmat and entertaining himself. I was folding laundry (fun for me!) and thought he was super cute...so, I made this video....again, notice how crazy the squeals are!

Good Times

Kellen loves trying to grab at the chain that holds his swing on the Jolly Jumper...he sways around and goes in circles trying to hold onto this chain...it's really cute to watch!

Kellen continues to practice his rolling. He can move around so much now. We put him down in the middle of his playmat and within 5 minutes, he is at the end of the playmat or competely off of it and playing somewhere on the carpet. It is crazy how mobile he is, especially considering he isn't crawling. Here he is making his way off of his playmat...he doesn't quite understand that the poles of his playmat won't move...he will try to roll through them for a while before trying something else.

We bought Kellen these things where you put soft foods in this mesh and he sucks the food out...sounds disgusting...looks disgusting...but he loves it! We introduced his first fruit last week (banana) and he loves it! Here he is eating his banana with breakfast...yummy!

Playing at the Park

We like taking Kellen to the park that is about 5 minutes from our house. It is great...it has a sandbox, lots of slides, etc, swings, tennis courts, baseball field, wading pool, and picnic tables...lots of fun things to do with Kellen!
One of Kellen's favourite things to do when we go to the park is to just sit and watch all the other kids play...he is fascinated with other children, especially other babies.
Yesterday was a bit cooler, so Kellen is sporting his new sweater that Abuelita and Grandpa bought him!

We like putting Kellen in the baby swing...we're not sure if he actually likes it or not...he just becomes super mellow while swinging away. He does love the view he gets of the park - he just watches all the other kids playing.

Playing in the sandbox with daddy....just standing in the sand is fun for Kellen!

A big smile from Kellen as he was getting very excited watching the other kids playing...he also loves to squish his toes into the sand...yeah for the park!!

Adventures in Jolly Jumper Land...continued

Kellen continues to love playing in his Jolly Jumper...he could spend all day there! It is so funny to watch him jumping and bouncing around....it really shows how little he actually is...his tiny little legs just sort of fly around as he bounces!
