Thanks for Visiting, Lita!

Lita came up for a visit over the long weekend (two weekends ago) and we had so much fun with her!!! Kellen was super excited to see her and had fun showing her where we go for walks and where we catch frogs (and I run away from the frogs!). He also had lots of fun showing Lita our new gardens...which Kellen is a master waterer!!

Lita helped us make two beautiful flower pots (and Kellen has been watering them every night!).

Above is Kellen giving Lita a big kiss and hug goodbye....he kept asking for her for about three days after her trip!

And here is a picture of Lita and Kellen looking at something down the street.

SMILE!!! Lita bought Kellen a little ceramic bee to go in his garden...Kellen has yet to let it go...he loves to take it out of his garden and put it somewhere new everyday!

Kellen loves to play with outside chalk....he especially loves it when you trace his toe-toes (it's actually his feet he likes you to trace, but anything related to his feet is called his toe-toes). Here is Lita tracing Kellen's feet and the two of them giving me a big smile! (Kellen is somewhere in between "Not now, Mommy - Lita is tracing my feet!" and "Smile!" and "Am I done yet?"

And some more tracing....

Okay...I LOVE this picture of Kellen!!!! I love the cute smile he has - what a beautiful little boy!!! (by the way, that long grass belongs to our neighbours!!!)

Somewhere between blowing me a kiss and giving me a smile!

Showing Lita how to properly water the wall (I mean, the grass).

Playing at the "Big Boy" Park

We still like to go for walks after dinner - and sometimes we will head to the "big boy" park which is about 5 minutes from our house. We call it the big boy park because it has lots of older kids that hang out there (which we aren't a big fan of because they don't seem to notice toddlers trying to play there too) and it has the bigger slides (which Kellen loves!!!).

Here he is trying to blow the fluff off of a dandelion (however you actually spell it!)...he didn't understand that you need to hold it close to your mouth to make it work...so, he pretty much hyperventilated trying to get it to work!

Showing Daddy his flowers....

And of course, throwing rocks into the drainage holes (okay, I have no clue what the correct term is for these things!). If you didn't already know, Kellen is kind of obsessed with collecting rocks and throwing them down these things - all to hear the water "plop"!

Daddy is a bit tired and ready to head home...but Kellen has a couple more rocks to throw down there!

Smile!! Kellen was super proud of himself for climbing all the way to the top of the play structure!

...and here he is on his way back up to the top!!

...and going down the big slide all by himself..the kid has no fear!!

...and again...he was loving it!!!

Gardening is F-U-N!!

Two weeks ago, Sharlene, Raymond and Caden came over to help us start our garden!! (The garden was my Mother's Day present from Shawn!!).

Here are some pictures from this fun adventure!!

First, here are some pictures of Caden and Kellen (notice that Kellen is down to his diapers....he got a bit too excited about playing in the water!!) taking a break from gardening to share a little snack together.

They are deep in conversation (literally...it was pretty cute to sit back and listen to them talk to each other!) while still having a snack.

Kellen was really excited to help dig out the dirt (and put in his bucket...and put it right back into the garden)...what can I say - Kellen has a natural green thumb!!

....Still digging....

....and digging (but now, Caden has come to supervise)...

....and (well, you get the point!)...I think he was just getting ready to put a flower into the garden and had to make sure that the hole he had dug out was just the right size.

...the hole he had dug out clearly wasn't the right size, so here is Kellen starting again....

...on a totally different note - here is the new water toy we bought for Kellen. Toys R Us had a really huge sale last month so we thought it would be fun to get an outdoor toy for Kellen - and he loves it!!!

I thought I would throw this in just for the heck of it....whenever, I am printing something off the computer, Kellen loves to stand on the desk to collect the papers as they come out of the printer...he takes his job of "Paper Collector" very seriously!

Out for a Walk...and Throwing Rocks..

Before our walk, we made a pit stop at the park....Kellen loves the park! He really enjoys going to the "big kid" park nearby (even though the big kids practically push him out of their way...grrr!). Kellen loves the big slides!
We like to go for a walk everyday after dinner....and most walks will end with a trip down to the pond near our house. Kellen loves to collect rocks and throw them into the pond (he likes the splash!). Here is Kellen getting ready for our walk...

You have to really watch yourself when you're around Kellen and rocks...he has a crazy throw that can go anywhere! Here are Kellen and Shawn taking some practice shots before the real competition begins!

....checking out which rocks he should pick up first....

....and the rock throwing begins.....check out that arm!

...and now the splash!

...the crazy arm swing again...I'm serious - you really must watch out!! Kellen puts all his effort and strength into these throws!

...oops - another picture from before we left for our walk!

And, when we got home - Kellen gave me his beautiful smile!!!

(but before he was out of his stroller...he gave me this "Mommy - enough with the camera" look!...yet, is still halfway to his famous "Smile for the camera!" smile!)

Bathtime!

Kellen continues to LOVE bathtime! (and I love to comb his hair to look like a little guy from the 1950's!) He loves to play with his toys in the water....and splash the walls (or us!) as much as possible! We cannot wait to take him to the pool this summer...we just need to get him comfortable enough wearing his ear plugs (since he isn't allowed to get water in his ears, due to his tubes). Yeah for fun in the water!!!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Kellen was half way to making his famous "Smile!" face here....I think it looks like he is trying to be the GodFather....I'm pretty sure he even said "Eh..Happy Birthday" in a husky voice, just like Brando!

Last weekend was Grandma's birthday! We invited Grandma over for a BBQ and yummy cake (which Kellen picked out all by himself!). Kellen had lots of fun with Grandma, and he especially had fun eating birthday cake with her! (...and singing "Happy Birthday!" to her....and helping to blow out the candles!)

Dairy Queen...Yummy!!

Kellen LOVES Dairy Queen! I think he might get this from me! Two weekends ago, we got together with Raymond, Sharlene and Caden for the day....And, since Sharlene and I are addicted to everything created from Dairy Queen...we decided to get some yummy treats for everyone! Here is Kellen eating his soft serve - chocolate dipped - ice cream cone!

The two boys looked so cute trying to figure out how to eat this thing fast enough! (It looks like Kellen got some ice cream in his eyes!)

Ahhhh...the famous Kellen "smile for the camera" smile! (Caden is wondering what is up with this look!)

Actually, we were trying to eat our yummy ice cream inside....this idea lasted about 10 seconds...and then we all came to our senses and headed outside (where fallen ice cream is not such a concern!)

After ice cream....the park!!! We went to a big park at the community centre (about 2 minutes from our place) for the rest of the afternoon....it was pretty busy - lots of kids! Kellen and Caden had a blast running around all the fun things at the park!

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Here is a picture of the amazing ice cream cake that Shawn and Kellen got for me for my birthday (last month)...Kellen was a bit too excited to try the cake (note the missing part of my name - the icing was too yummy to pass up!) Kellen loves to sing "Happy Birthday" and we sang "Happy Birthday" to me about 10 times...everyday....for 2 weeks!

"Hello...It's Kellen!"

Another thing that Kellen is really into these days is calling people so that he can talk on the phone. Almost every night, he will ask to call Parker, Lita, Grandpa...it is endless! He doesn't really have anything to say once he gets on the phone, he just likes to hear you talk to him. He is really good at repeating anything I ask him to say (he just needs to work on talking a bit more loudly!).

Here are a few things that Kellen likes to say to people on the phone:
-"It's Kellen"
-"Hi, (name)"
-"I miss you"
-"I love you"
-"Come here now"
-"Happy Birthday"
-"Bye-Bye"

He pretty much repeats these things with each conversation! It is especially cute when he calls Parker - then, we get to hear two little people deep in conversation!

Kellen's new likes and dislikes....

I saw this posting on Parker's blog and thought I'd share Kellen's info on likes and dislikes too!

Lately, these are the things that Kellen does not like:
-Mushrooms
-Weird sauces
-Toothpaste
-Washing his hair
-Bullies (he will go up to kids who have pushed, etc and say "NOOOOO pushing!!")
-Mushrooms (he really hates them! And, anything that he doesn't like, is now called a mushroom)

These are the things that Kellen loves:
-Mango
-Apple juice (still)
-Milkshakes (actually, it is the probiotic yogurt drinks...we call them his milkshakes)
-Meat (especially when it is cooked on the BBQ!)
-Dora and Diego (it is kind of an obsession!)
-Kai Lan and Thomas the Train
-Trains (or Choo-Choo's)
-BIG Trucks
-Dogs (he must go to every dog he sees to pet)
-Parks
-Walks
-Throwing rocks and pebbles
-Bathtime
-Bedtime (You read this correctly.....he is totally into sleeping these days!!! ... Who knows what tomorrow's blog will say!!)
-Big Boy cups (no more sippy cups!)
-Fire Trucks
-Saying "OH NO!!!!" whenever you ask him something "bad"...for example "Kellen, did you scrape your knee on the ground?"...Kellen "OH NO!!!"
-Saying "AGAIN?!?" in a super cute, sly way (with a super cute sly little smile and nod) when he wants to do something that he really likes again

Well, that's all folks!

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star...

Wow...I just realized that it has been almost an entire month since I posted something on Kellen's blog! Sorry folks...work has been super, super busy - I am basically doing math prep until I fall asleep every single night! However, there will be new pictures soon!!!

Anyways, I thought I would give you some updates on Kellen....He is really into singing songs these days...he can sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (and you can understand about 50% of it!), and he sings "Row, Row, Row your Boat", and his favourite song remains....."O Canada". He sings it everyday at daycare - and they tell us that Kellen is the first one standing at attention (and doing a little dance of excitement) to sing "O Canada" each morning.....he is very patriotic!!
