Being Cute!

Kellen really isn't too sure what to think about the vaccuum. He will just stare at it (especially at the light on the front of it) and he has to be able to see it while it's on. However, if you get too close to him with the vaccuum, he starts to get upset. Here is Kellen safe behind his baby gate watching daddy vaccuuming the floor. He wouldn't dare go past his gate. I also don't think Kellen blinked once while Shawn was vaccuuming.

At what age to we begin to realize that there is food stuck to our face?!?!? Whenever Kellen is eating his finger foods, he always seems to get some of it stuck to his face, his fingers, etc.

"Is there something on my face?" Kellen continues to try and feed himself with a spoon....as you can see, he has clearly not mastered this skill. Right after I took this picture, Kellen missed his mouth and put yogurt right in his eye! He looked like a creature from a horror film with this gunk covering his eye!

I took out my mini-DVD player and Kellen was very interested in trying it out. So, I put the headphones on him and he watched the beginning of "Friday Night Lights"...he was in a trance wondering where the sound was coming from.

Here is Kellen enjoying a ride in the laundry basket!

Man in the Mirror

Kellen loves to explore our place. Lately, he likes to head to the bathroom and bang on the scale (as he has seen us do...you have to give our scale a little nudge for the numbers to light up and for it to read your weight)...it is crazy how he remembers these little things and will do it for himself!
"Bang! I wonder how much I weigh today?"

Here is Kellen determined to get to his next destination. I was obviously in his way so he decided to just crawl over my leg and continue on his way...getting over my leg was really hard work, so he took a quick rest before finishing that hurdle.

Kellen continues to absolutely love looking in the mirror (hence all the little finger prints all over the mirror...I swear, we clean it on a regular basis!). This past weekend, Shawn did some baby proofing and one of the things he had to do was secure the mirror to the wall since Kellen liked to pull the mirror off the wall! Now Kellen loves to pull on the clips that hold the mirror to the wall.

Here he is pulling on the clips...he is determined to get those clips off the wall so that he can pull on the mirror again!

Reading is Fun!

Kellen loves it when we read stories to him. We read him a story before his naps and before bed....and sometimes, just for the heck of it! Lately, Kellen has learned how to turn the pages while we are reading him a story...it is really cute to see him trying to turn the pages...sometimes he will just close the book! Now, he also likes to sit and just "read" a book all by himself! Here he is reading "There's a Wocket in my Pocket"....good book.

"All done! On to the next book!"

He speaks!

A couple of days ago, Kellen started making different noises...he was starting to put different sounds together, like "bu-bu", "na-na" and then he said "dad-da"!! He would say it a couple of times and then combine his d's and b's for "da-da", "da-ba", ba-ba", etc, but for sure, he was sometimes saying dadda!!!
However, this morning Kellen was fully saying "mama"! Not, "ma-ma-ma-ma", just "mama" He would say it to get my attention or Shawn's attention (I guess he is not quite sure which one of us is actually mama), but he was saying it perfectly!!! I don't think he understood why I was so excited, but hey, it's not everyday your baby calls you mama for the first time!

Silly Kellen on the chair

For some reason, Kellen absolutely loves to stand on chairs. Everytime Shawn or I stand him up on a chair, he goes crazy with excitement! He will just start jumping, squealing, giggling, bouncing, etc...it is very entertaining to watch! Just wanted to mention that I love that adorable little smile he has!!!
Of course, chairs also serve the purpose of teething toys.

Here is Kellen giving me his best, "it wasn't me mommy!" looks.

Here is Kellen now giving me a "whatever, I'm going to get silly now" looks.

And, here is a video to show Kellen's silly ways on his chair...enjoy!

Some bananas and wine

Kellen found some wine bottles on one of his crawls around our place....he now loves to head over to the wine bottles and try to knock them down. Hmmm, I'm sure if we shared a nice glass of wine together, both mommy and baby would have a great night's sleep! Ooops, did I just say that out loud!?!?!

Kellen has always loved eating bananas. We give him bananas in his masher or cut into small pieces. He now likes to share a banana with Shawn. He mainly justs squishes the tip of the banana as he is trying to bite it, but he does get quite a bit of banana in his mouth...it just takes a long time!

The posts just keep on coming!

Kellen has always loved to look at himself in our mirror. However, now that he is crawling, he likes to head over to the mirror all by himself and smile at himself, just stare at himself, and then try to eat himself! It is cool how he now knows that it is his reflection in the mirror and not just another baby looking at him!

Kellen loves to pull himself up on our table....it's the perfect height for him to stand. He will then procede to grab anything and everything that is on the table and knock it to the ground....not too much fun for us! He is also getting better at "walking" around the table (well from one end to the other).

Some of Kellen's favourite new toys are things from our kitchen. He loves to bang wooden spoons together and now loves to bang on and chew on our mixing bowls....who knew kitchen stuff could be so interesting?!?!?

Did I get any new emails today?

Here are some more pictures of Kellen checking out what is going on outside. There was a dog outside that caught his attention and he just stood there for a couple of minutes watching this dog run around.

I love how little he looks standing at the window....it is just too cute!

Still watching the dog running around outside....again, isn't Kellen adorable!?!!??!

Since Kellen is so mobile and able to crawl everywhere (crawling mainly to find something else to pull himself up on or to put in his mouth), Shawn and I started baby proofing our place. We put up a baby gate to keep Kellen in the family room as much as possible since it is the easiest room to baby proof, it has his toys, and it is where we hang out the most.
As you can see, Kellen has already learned how to sneak out!

Luckily, I was quick to catch him sneaking out, so here he is stuck behind the baby gate!
Does the excuse, "my baby ate it" work for not paying your bills?
Thinking of what to do....continue eating the bills or get mommy to pay the bills....

Luckily for me, Kellen chose to continue eating the bills!

Getting ready to check his email. He's a natural.

In my crib and in a cart....oh the places I go!

Now that Kellen is big enough to sit in the front of the grocery cart, it is alot more fun going grocery shopping! Kellen loves to look around at all the lights and different colours on the food packages! He also loves that he can constantly touch, pull, slap and chew on everything we put in the cart!
You can't tell from these pictures, but he really does like being in the cart! He looks a bit stunned in all of the pictures....I think he was embarassed that mommy was taking his picture in front of all those people!

Here is Kellen looking a bit sleepy....he's thinking, "do we really have to be doing this now!?!?"

Kellen continues to be super proud of himself everytime he stands up in his crib! Standing is not good enough for him....he now needs to stand up and slowly but surely, move his way across the crib...then he is really, really proud of himself!

Here is a video of Kellen hanging out in his crib. I have to put him in his crib if I have to do something in which I will not be able to watch over him. When I came back to get him (only a couple of minutes later) I could hear him talking to himself and having a good time with his stuffed animals....so, I made a video!

I spy with my little eye....

Here is Kellen after he crawled over to the t.v. and is trying to figure out how to touch the screen.

On his way to touching the television, he noticed my DVD's....

And he decided it would be more fun to take them all out of their homes....

And bang them together.....

And spread them all over the floor.

Kellen loves to grab the spoon out of my hand while I'm feeding him. Here he is trying to feed himself after I put some food on his spoon and let him attempt to get the food in his mouth....if you look very, very closely, you will notice that there is some food actually in his mouth!
Kellen absolutely loves to crawl over to the window and stand up to look outside. He loves to look at the trees and the cars! He is also getting very good at shuffling his feet so that he can "walk" the length of the window pane!

At night, Kellen likes that he can see is reflection in the window.
