Kellen and his "Baby" T.V.

A couple of months ago, I put a Dora DVD on the portable DVD player for Kellen to watch....since then, he LOVES watching one of his DVD's on what he likes to refer to as the "baby t.v."....he knows all the buttons to press to put in a DVD....and he becomes fixated on his show (Mommy likes this for long car rides!).

Here he is just hanging out watching Dora and Diego while Mommy was making dinner....he sat there for about 30 minutes!

I LOVE this smile!!! What a beautiful little boy I have!!! By the way, did you notice that Kellen's crazy hair (and curls :( ) are gone....we went for a haircut last week!

A Walk Through Greenwood Conservation Park

One of the great things about living where we do - are the many parks and conservation parks that surround us! Last week, we decided to walk around a conservation park that is about 5 minutes from our house...it is the same park that hosts the huge (and free!) Halloween Carnival for the kids of Ajax each year!

First, we ran around the playground....and Kellen gave us his big smile!! Kellen loves to run up and down these ramps and has no fear going down the big, twirly slides!

...waiting for Mommy to stop taking pictures so that he can continue on his run....

We walked around on the paths for a while.....it was a beautiful day! Here are Kellen and Mommy posing for a picture!
More smiles with Mommy...we were laughing at an inside joke...Kellen is such a funny little guy!

Exploring a big tree stump with Daddy...

A little cuddle between Mommy and Kellen....

Cooling Off

Kellen LOVES playing in the water!!! Every single day, he plays with the hose, the sprinkler, or in his new elephant pool! Here are a couple of pictures of Kellen cooling off with the hose.....watch out!

I was actually trying to water the garden and Kellen kept asking to run under the water, so here I am spraying him while he runs underneath the spray!

....and running back for some more fun!

My little water boy!!!

Me Love Cake!!

Loblaws makes some super yummy cakes....so, when I saw a mini chocolate mouse cake on sale, I had to buy it! After we finished having dessert, Shawn and I were cleaning up and had left the cake on the table....we turn around and see Kellen doing this! He had gotten up on my seat, picked up his baby knife and was literally digging into the cake! Yes, he is his father's son!

Kellen's Big Boy Bed!!!

Well, the day has finally arrived...Shawn and I put together Kellen's brand new big boy bed!!! Here it is all set up and ready for Kellen to see it! He was pretty excited to see it (especially once he saw the whole gang of his stuffed animals sitting in the bookshelf of the bed).

He really didn't like the side rails so we decided to not put it up right now....so, Kellen went to bed at 8:15 and as I'm typing this, we haven't heard from him since 8:50.....not too bad for his first night in his bed...and it doesn't even sound like he got out of his bed....this might work out!

Here is Kellen giving a big smile during story time....

....totally mesmerized by Little Miss Spider

"Good Night Mommy and Daddy!!"

The Fair!!!

The weekend that we came home from our stay at the hospital, we noticed that the Fair was in town!!! I hadn't been to a fair in years, so we thought it would be fun to take Kellen. Kellen didn't quite know how to take this whole scene...the people were a bit too rough around the edges for his liking - he would just stare at them and go super quiet! He was pretty happy to play some of their games (picking up 3 little frogs from the water to "reveal" the prize!)...he won a doggy and a fish!! Here he is showing us his doggy (and wondering why the woman was trying to talk to us so much!).

Then, the lady working at one of the booths, suggested that we put Kellen up on the stand for a picture! Kellen did not like this idea...so, he gave her the look of death the entire time I had him standing up there!

Then, we tried out the carousel....Kellen liked it but was a bit nervous...he had a death grip on the horse the entire ride!!

Then, we tried out the Dumbo Ride!!! This was a huge success!! Kellen loved that Dumbo could fly up in the air!! He couldnt' stop smiling and was just super happy to be with Dumbo!! He kept telling Dumbo "it's okay...I'll fly with you" and at the end of the ride he said "I love you, Dumbo"....ahh...

...and again with daddy!!! Kellen loved going on the Dumbo ride! The moment we got off the ride, he asked if we could go on it again...and again!

Before we left the Fair, we bought some ice cones and cotton candy....Kellen wasn't a huge fan of the cotton candy - a bit too sweet for him! However, he thought the idea of candy coming in the shape of this weird fluff was pretty cool!

Happy Canada Day!!!

Happy Canada Day!!!! Yesterday, I took Kellen to Rotary Park (a big park down by the water) where they were having a huge family day celebration (Ajax is really great for family events - they do these type of days alot - and it is all FREE!!). Unfortunately, Shawn couldn't join us because he had to work (he got today off instead). So, we went to the park with Raymond, Sharlene and Caden!.

When we first arrived, there was this HUGE blow up beaver to great us to the park! At first, Kellen was very intrigued by the beaver, but once we got up close - he was scared. He kept asking me "Beaver eat mommy and Kellen?.....oh nooooo!" then he would say "Beaver fall down on me?....oh noooooo!". Needless to say, he didn't want to hang out for too long with the beaver and didn't give his big smile for the camera!

Turns out...Caden was equally afraid of the giant beaver! As other families were trying to get pictures, the scared little kids thing was a common theme!

Behold...the super fast, super big, blow up slides!!!

These events are amazing.....they had both pony and camel rides for the kids!!! Here are the camels - Kellen got a bit scared once we were getting closer to our turn - so, we decided to put it off until next year!

One of the blow up castles which was also a maze!!!

They had about 3 blow up mazes for the kids to run through....Kellen was very brave as he ran around the maze, until he ran into other kids - then he would get a panic-stricken look on his face and bolt back toward me (here he is desperately trying to get back to me!)...I don't think he liked the fact that kids were coming out of no where).

He was much more brave once Caden ran along with him!!!

There were lots of food venues to choose from....naturally, we all gravitated towards the chocolate and fudge tent!! Here is Kellen very much enjoying his marshmallow dipped in chocolate treat! He literally finished it by the time we got to the reptile show (5 minutes later!)

Caden and Kellen both giving their "smiley" faces (I guess Caden thought Kellen had something pretty good going on with this face, so he has recently started doing the same thing when you say "smile!")....boy, did they enjoy their marshmallow and chocolate treat!!!

One of the many things going on at Rotary Park was a reptile show! These two guys from Ottawa came to show all these cool reptiles....the kids were fascinated by all of these animals (me...not so much!)....Kellen asked if he could hold the snake....the answer was "no".

Here is Kellen thoroughly enjoying the reptile show...he was so good during the entire thing - he would put up his hand for every question (they were all yes and no questions) and got super excited with every new animal!!

They also had a petting zoo there! Here is Kellen desperately trying to get into the pen to play with the animals! He had fun trying to pet the sheep and goats...until they actually got close enough to touch...then he just got scared and asked me to do it!

We ended the day with an ice cream cone!!! Kellen loved it!! He is slowly getting better at licking the ice cream....just not fast enough (needless to say, we needed to wash his outfit when we got home!)

We went to Raymond and Sharlene's for a BBQ in the evening....here are Kellen and his best friend, Caden....it's really funny to see how Caden has started making the same "smiley" face as Kellen when we say "smile!".

Happy Canada Day, everyone!!! Sharlene (with Caden's help!) made this yummy cake to celebrate the day!!
