Treasure Box

Some of you might know that Kellen has had some serious trouble in the pooping department ever since he had surgery last month. There were some drawbacks to the pain medication that he received which caused him to become constipated. So, when he did poop, it really hurt. Since then, he literally holds his poop all day - he would say he had to go poop, but the moment he sat on the toilet, he would panic and say he didn't have to go anymore. He would always walk around looking super uncomfortable - which would make us feel super uncomfortable. He was just so scared of it hurting again. Poor kid!!

We tried everything to get him to poop on a regular basis again - but nothing was working. So, we came up with a treasure box! We went to Party Packagers and bought a green bin (his favourite colour) and lots and lots of little goodies (snacks and little toys) to fill up the treasure box. Now, each time Kellen has a successful poop, he gets to pick something out of his treasure box! And, it seems to really be working!!! We started this a week ago and since then, he has been asking to go poop and will actually go poop without problems! The moment he does, he will ask for a treat from his treasure box! Hey, whatever works!!
